The Digital Story of The Nativity
In 'The Digital Story of the Nativity' from Excentric (a Portaguese media and design firm) we get a contemporary idea of how the birth of the Messiah, Jesus the Christ might have been had it taken place today. A rather cute telling of the Biblical account and in doing so perhaps reveals something about us.
As creative and interesting as the above video is, what do we learn about ourselves? The music is light and fun, the visuals captivating and the story is steeped in religous tradition and familiarity. But despite these positive attributes something significant is missing in it and us, any recognition of who this baby really is. He is the Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour and Messiah to all who believe, the only One capable of paying the price for all of our sins and reconciling us to the Father in Heaven, God Almighty. The Lord Jesus did not come to entertain or lighten our spirits and improve our self-image but to redeem and lost and utterly depraved world, to save us from utter destruction. Is there any mention or allusion to this in the video?
It seems that most Christians and indeed the rest of the world is very happy and content to let Jesus be born and live a life teaching morals and good behavior but please don't convince me of my sin and ask me to change my life. Am I off base here? Another similar video from Igniter Media called "A Social Network Christmas" offers an equally compelling video but one that desires to honor God as we can see from their 'About Us' statement on their website. Now I think it still falls short on several of the same key points but the statistics and viewer comments for both speak volumes. The video from Excentric has been viewed over 10 Million times while the Igniter Media video has been viewed just over 1 Million, which version does the world prefer? The one created by the world, see the file below for Excentric's purpose in creating the video.

My point is are we satisfied with a trite little story about Jesus or do we want to mature some and learn about who He really is and what He desires for our lives? Are we willing to serve Him and live a life of glory to Jesus and the Father?
Jesus is a complex, intruiging and deep part of the Trinity (one of three ways God manifests Himself to us), please consider Him in all His Glory! Open your Bible to learn about His birth (Luke 1:26 - 2:32), the purpose of His ministry (Luke 19:2-10), and the redemption (John 11:20-27) He offers to all freely, each day you do so will bring a new blessing into your life and prepare you for an eternity with Him.
